Case Background
On October 12, 2014, ALCO Stores, Inc. and ALCO Holdings, LLC (collectively, the "Debtors") each filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas (Dallas Division). The cases were pending before the Honorable Stacey G. Jernigan and are jointly administered under Case No. 14-34941.
On December 29, 2020, the Bankruptcy Court entered a Final Decree closing the Debtor's cases.
Important Information & Dates
Plan and Disclosure Statement
On February 18, 2015, the Debtors filed their Plan of Liquidation and the Disclosure Statement related thereto. On April 14, 2015, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order approving the Disclosure Statement. On June 3, 2015 the Bankruptcy Court entered an order confirming the Plan. The effective date of the Plan occurred on July 22, 2015.
Bar Date for Filing Proofs of Claim
The Bankruptcy Court has set the following deadlines for filing proofs of claim against the Debtors:
- General Bar Date (all creditors other than Governmental Units): January 16, 2015
- Governmental Unit Bar Date: April 10, 2015
- Administrative Claims Bar Date: August 21, 2015

Asset Sales
On October 14, 2014, the Debtors filed a motion to sell substantially all of their assets. On October 30, 2014, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order approving bidding and auction procedures in connection with such sale. On November 20, 2014, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order authorizing the sale of substantially all of the Debtors' assets pursuant to liquidation and store-closing sales.
On November 25, 2014, the Debtors filed a motion to sell their owned real property and lease designation rights. On December 3, 2014, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order approving bidding and auction procedures in connection with such sale. On December 23, 2014, the Bankruptcy Court entered several orders approving various asset sales.
